Greetings, fellow crew! I haven't settled on a character yet, since there's usually a lot of conversation before that point. My personal preference would be to play an Andorian Science officer, aggressive and optimistic. Of course I have a few other ideas as well, including porting over some alien species from other settings.

Greetings, I'm going the boring path this time and playing a Human. Not sure if she will be Security or Medical, but those are the two I'm shooting for this time. Engineering could be fun I guess, but I don't think I know enough of the Star Trek technobabble to be an engineer.

Humans aren't boring, they're awesome! This just happens to be the only fandom in which most of my concepts are other species.

I think if I play my plant person, they could be an engineer. I've got the Treknobabble down pretty well. :D

I prefer playing other species as being human is something I am everyday in rl. But Cora just screamed human to me for this game, so human it is.

Hi all.  First order of business is deciding what to do with the captain.  I've been in and around Star Trek RP since the BBS days in the 90s and whether the CO is a PC or NPC it never really feels right to me.  Having said that, I don't recall a situation where the captain was a PC and that player also had a secondary character to run around with which is what STA seems to suggest for any player whose main character isn't on the planet, for example.

So, what do you want to do with the captain?  For this game I'm leaning toward the CO being a PC (if someone wants to be the captain, of course) but would love to hear what the group thinks.

Second order of business is the ship.  I've always liked the name Odyssey so I went with that but the class is up in the air and I'm open to suggestions there as well.  I'm a big "ship" person so I kinda love all the ships circa 1966-2005.  Want to roll into the

quadrant with an Ambassador?  I'm good with it.  So far one player has suggested an affinity for the Nova.

Thoughts?

I say if someone wants to play the captain then let them play the captain. If not, then we'll have an NPC captain instead.

I do like the Nova class, but I also like the bigger ones as well, like the Galaxy and Sovereign classes that the TNG Enterprise was.

I'm assuming from the thread in the interest check that we're playing in the TNG ear around the time the Voyager went to the delta quadrant?

The game begins in 2375 right after the end of the Dominion War.

Hello all!

Not sure who I might be interested in playing here yet, I've had a pdf of the rules for a while now but I'm only just now getting around to looking it over!  So I'm still a little bit up in the air.  So far we have an Andorian science officer and a human security / medical officer?

Possibly a Sylvari Engineer instead of Andorian Science officer. I'm having feelings pulling in both directions.

Regarding a Captain PC with a second character, keep in mind that Supporting Crew are like half-PCs, and belong to the group as a whole rather than any one player. They're made on the fly as needed and have rudimentary stats, but can get fleshed out the more they're called upon. It's a really neat concept. Personally, I like the idea of multiple PCs per player, but that kinda pushes the Supporting Crew rules off to the side. I could potentially make a Captain for the crew, repurposing my Vulcan XO idea to CO.

Oh!  I can't believe I forgot but you don't have to be a member of Starfleet either.  There's the possibility of another ship being pulled along with you.  Which will quickly meet a tragic (or heroic?) end.  So if you want to be a Romulan officer or something that's fine too.  Though we would need an upper limit to the number of non-Starfleet people running around our Starfleet ship.

They're a species of plant people from Guild Wars 2 that a friend inspired me to write up as a Star Trek species. Basically plant elves.

Would it be out of line to suggest that I'd be way more interested in playing in a game that feels a little more classically Star Trek?  :)
