TNG-era ship crews didn't have a dedicated "science officer" like Spock. Data often filled the "science nerd" role in TNG and I would like to say 7of9 filled that role on Voyager; that said, there are dedicated Science stations (2 or 3) on the bridge of TNG-era ships, and Chrys would prefer to have a science officer on the bridge (since he doesn't have a walking ship's library at Ops).

From the bridge image TFF shared (link above), station 15 on the starboard side looks to be the spot for a Chief Science Officer (there are also configurable science stations at 1 & 6 for subordinates or for Syssha to have a secondary thing going on...maybe monitoring her favorite experiments? :) ); incidentally, there's an engineering station at 16 on the port side, so Mr. Reade or one of his subordinates can man that station as needed, too. :)

TFF, would it be allowable for us to get some easy Momentum by having each main character department head perform a check of their systems from their stations by attempting a test related to their position (i.e., Nikos at Flight Control, Kel at Tactical, Syssha at Science (Sensors), Cora in Sick Bay) to report to the captain? (That is, unless you already have information on the condition of their systems to share with each character.) (The XO's task can be to get information from our NPC Ops Manager.)

Yeah, I do remember that the TNG era has no real "Science Officer" position, which makes Chief Science Officer an interesting place to sit post-TOS. I think Syssha would be treated more less as overseer for the blueshirts as a whole, alongside Cora specifically in Medical. Being on the bridge at one of those stations feels like the right move, while the heads of various specific fields are busy in the labs directly.

I tend to like playing a little more strict with the rules to start as a sort of tutorial for them, get everybody familiar with how things are supposed to work, then maybe loosen up a li'l later once we know what does what, but also I'm not opposed to gettin' loosey goosey. Mostly because I'm already familiar with STA and so don't need the training wheels quite as much.

Normally I'd agree, but in this case my time is so limited right now I can show up to post more if I don't have to think about rules.

GM appears to have not checked the game in over a month. Safe to say this one isn't moving forward.

If anybody else around here wants to start a new game so that we can transfer our characters and keep playing, I'm available as a player - I'm currently busy enough as a GM and I don't know well enough this ruleset (and also the background lore).

Sadly this has happened with every Star Trek game I've joined. Ah well. It was a pleasure serving with you.
