Escorting Snorri to the stairs

Lantern lit Ben escorted the dwarf to stairway up. The dwarf architect was grateful and as he began his journey to the surface Ben heard a noise to the south. At the edge of Ben's lantern light in the south east corner he saw seven orcs approaching.

OOC Day: 6. Time: 10:00am. Turn: 6. Weather: Sunny, stormy, high winds. Vision: Daylight. Movement: 40'

It is no surprise to Ben that seven fully grown members of the Open Sore tribe (for who else could they be?) now threatened to discover him (how could they have not already done so?).

With two choices before him, flee up or flee back, he chooses the latter and scampers as quickly as he can back to where he thinks Teodore and the others might be.

Fast to flee Ben started running before the orcs. The fleeing wizard ran from the stairs and made it as far as the first ogre's mouth. He quickly looked back and saw the orcs in quick pursuit, only thirty foot behind him. The orcs were running at the same pace as Ben.

OOC Post your next actions and I'll roll Initiative.

In a panic, Ben runs away from the orcs and towards Teodore's last known location, screaming for help all the way.

The orcs growled and snarled as they chased Ben. At his shout they quickened their pace and catching the wizard he was stabbed and beaten in quick succession.

OOC Ben lost Initiative. Orcs Hits AC 1 and AC -1 for 10 damage in total. Attacks that would have killed any member of the party. An unfortunately but quick death for Ben.

As it very early into the delve what is your preference. Taking over a retainer, taking over an NPC in the dungeon, or rolling a fresh character to enter the dungeon?

Those first two options aren't all that appealing.

I guess rolling up #2 would be more appealing.

I suppose #2 could have heard that an expedition had left just an hour ahead of him.

Should I hide my dice rolls during character generation?

OOC Okay. Roll up character number 2. I don't mind if you want to hide the dice rolls or not. It should be pretty clear Ben is lost/killed. If you already have a name for character number 2 I can set up a character so you can do the dice rolls with the new character.

The dice might determine the name! The dice will roll soon. Maybe they will find an elf?

I wouldn't count on it.

I'd like to raise Derry's str to 13 by dropping his wisdom 4 points but then I grind against one of the bylaws of character gen rule #3. Any wiggle room there?

Nice rolls.

Yes I allow 1/2 points. So Int and Wis can both be lowered to 9 so that Str can be raised to 13.
